While we know that its impossible to bring back all that is lost many already are enjoying chat rooms again things to many peoples help. In June 2005 Yahoo eliminated the user rooms without warning. If I knew what I know today things would be much different for Yahlist. I immediately started a geocities site to start directing people to rooms manually. I actually hand typed my messages manually, in the hope that things would get going on there own! My hands and arms were sore and I managed to get a meager 200 to 500 visitors a day. By August and September I had refined my effort and consistently reached 500 to 1000 people a day I had a hand full of hangout rooms running in the Fetishes section of Yahoo. At the end of September Yahoo yanked my Geocities site. I didn't miss a lick, it was a blessing in disguise, for the same price as a high volume Geocities site I got this site and URL, with scripts, and a real domain. Well after some bad dealings with a crappy provider "Hairy Glove" who stole my Yahlist.Com domain. (If you are wondering). I could now use scripts and accept advertising. This was a huge boost for Yahlist.net. October through November were slow but steady growth months for Yahlist. For the first time I started getting help from other people. By the end of November Yahlist was getting 1000 to 1500 hits a day. By December the Bots in the regular yahoo rooms had gotten out of hand at that time I resolved to start promoting bot free group rooms. The main problem with the group rooms was that some people found them tricky to enter. Irregardless by the end of December Yahlist was now peaking its head over 2000 unique visitors a day. January through Mid - February saw Yahlist begin a big push into group rooms, like all things since the user room shutdown. Progress was made but it was slower than expected. Then the friends of Yahlist developed software that really things going. We ended February at around 3000 unique visitors a day. March though Mid April With the new Yahlist Remote Control and Yahlist messenger and the Bot Free group rooms we entered a New Phase of Yahlist. Considering the new software Yahlist now regularly experience between 3500 to 5000 unique visitors a day. If we keep this momentum going perhaps we can make some real progress in restoring the user room experience. Mid April through Now Yahoo has eliminated the YCHT function rendering many 3rd party chat clients not nearly as useful. Yahoo has eliminated the Group Chat room function making it not possible for users to create there own "named rooms". These have been a huge setback for Yahoo chat. We have lost as many chatters as we did in the weeks after the user room shutdown. We have had two good things happen recently. First the Text eating issue seemed to be resolved with the elimination of the YCHT feature, too bad all the chatters left in frustration before it happened. With the elimination of YCHT, and the loss of so many chatters the bots have subsided substantially. Users are now selecting less used portions of Yahoo, like the TV show chat rooms, for use as chat rooms, since the bots don't hang out there. This is a place to thank those who have helped my efforts so far. Bootsie a GG from the cross-dressing rooms who, was a great help in the beginning. Car from the small cocks room, who introduced me to the group rooms, and showed me the /join *g. command, and eventually wrote the Yaheh hack for Yahlist messenger. The 1st group room chat client! DiggityDon who wrote his nifty little remote that the non tech inclined love so much, and who helped me with the .xml reading on my site. SlimPantyMan from the Minp group room. He has been a big supporter and a poster child for a group room champion If you want to get on this hall of Fame please check out the "Please Help Yahlist" link on the link bar below. | About Yahlist | Please Help Yahlist | Site Map |
