Yahoo Messenger Review

Yahoo Messenger:  Yahoo messenger is pretty much defenseless against booting, while yahoo continues to add features with each upgrade to messenger,  it refuses to address bot storming of rooms and booting.  All the new fancy features, yahoo adds with each upgrade, only add opportunity for booters to boot you.  The only real defense you have is to turn of PM's on yahoo messenger.  Frankly this is like closing your window in a tornado, only the most primitive booters will be deterred by this move.  Yahoo messenger is pathetic when defending against determined booting attempts.  I have heard some strong rumors that older 5.x yahoo messenger are  very boot resistant with all options turned off,  but I can't confirm this.  I'm not a chat client coder but from what I understand yahoo messenger uses the "YMSG" protocol which makes it the most vulnerable type of messenger.

There was no need to even run a test on the boot resistance of yahoo messengers since nearly every type of booting style will work, if you really like the look and feel of yahoo messenger, but don't like all the boots and bots, consider shelling out $17.00 and get y-tunnel.
